The “Tema e Variazioni” series revolves around the enigmatic and symbolically feminine face of the lyric soprano Lina Cavalieri, considered by Piero Fornasetti to be perfection in terms of proportion, and who thus became the artist’s muse. Originally conceived as a simple series of six plates, the collection grew over time to reach almost 350 variations, applied to almost all the components of the Italian house’s design.
Each Fornasetti porcelain ashtray is a unique object, screen-printed by hand: the slightest differences between similar creations are the result of artisanal production processes.
